A choice is not about right or wrong. It is a fear of the unknown which arises, resulting in loss of trust in one’s self. When you lose trust in yourself it triggers a domino effect of insecurities that lie in your subconscious mind. You remain in denial of anything in your subconscious until you expand your awareness.
Humans are highly intelligent beings but are limited by their perceived beliefs. Any answer, any understanding, any guidance is already within you.
We continually receive intuitive guidance, however it is frequently drowned out by the constant flow of thoughts about past and future. One of the ways intuitive guidance is transmitted to us is through expansion and contraction of energy. If something is beneficial to you, you will feel your energy or consciousness expand. If something is not beneficial or fearful to you, you will feel your energy contract.
Expansion is a sign to proceed and contraction is a sign to explore within. Contraction is a sign of hidden fears. When one has a mind of clarity then there is never a need to make a choice.
The only time a human pauses to make a choice is when his mind has slipped into the past or future. When you have a mind of clarity you are in present moment awareness. When you are in present moment awareness, choices are replaced by intuitive knowingness.
When you pause in doubt be sure to know that an internal fear has arisen. Observe: just simply questioning – “what choice should I make?” is a sign of fear. If you were not fearful, you would not be in a position of doubt. The question instead should be “why don’t I trust myself?”
Here are 5 steps to making supportive choices:
1. Observe where the choice is in your body: Take a deep breath and allow your body to breath evenly and smoothly. Do this for about 5 minutes. Observe where the choice or doubt lies within your body.
2. Observe the choice: Observe in totality your choice. Allow the energy to permeate.
3. Highest good for yourself: “Is this choice for the highest good of the whole?” - The whole here refers to your mental, physical and spiritual being. Allow yourself to feel these different aspects of yourself. If you feel expansive energy then go to step four. If you feel contracted energy stop here. You may want to explore the contracted energy deeper. Why does this choice make me fearful? Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you feel expansive. More often than not, there is more than one feeling that links back to your fear. Once expansion is felt then move to step 4.
4. Highest good for family and others around me: “Is this choice for the highest good of those immediately around me?” How will it affect those around me? If you feel expansion then move on to number 5. If you feel contraction, stop, reflect on those around you and how you feel your choice will affect them. Ask: “Why do I feel this particular way?” Observe the expansion and contraction. When you feel expansion move on to number 5.
5. Highest good for the world: “Is this choice for the highest good of the world?” How will it affect the world? If you feel expansion you will intuitively know your answer. If you feel contraction, explore deeper what arises. Ask: “What do I think the world will do if I follow through with this choice?”
Following the above steps in the order given many seem long and arduous. But with practice it becomes a quick supportive tool to help you navigate the world. Self-questioning, listening and observing yourself yields many benefits. The questions above are examples. Practice allowing your own questions to arise.
